Gift Wrap got you down?! Unless you grab up your wrapping paper during the after-Christmas sales, you might be thinking the cost of gift wrap is too high. Or maybe you just like making your gifts look a bit more personal.
Well, here are a few ways to add that extra touch (without spending a lot):
- Simply use newspaper for that old time feel, tie a raffia bow around it, and you've got a great fun look. Use the comic section (appropriate comics) for more color!
- Ask your grocer to use paper sacks or throw a couple extras in and wrap your gifts in brown paper bags. You can cut them to fit the gift, add some holly and berries with colored markers, and it'll look ultra festive!
- A friend of mine gave me a tip once that often times you can pick up unused rolls of newspaper (unprinted) from your local newspaper press for free. This is great if your children want to color or draw pictures on it for their friend's birthday present. My parents used this idea one Christmas and took different colored paints and splattered them all over. Let it dry, and you've got unique wrapping paper. No one will know it didn't come from the store!

I love using brown paper and stamps, stickers, ribbon, etc. My kids enjoy it too!
We have done this, we used brown contractor paper available at Lowes. It is about $6.00 for a humongous roll. I have had my roll for nearly 4 years now. We have used it for many craft projects and massive drawings by my kids.
For wrapping paper, I bought a few inexpensive Christmas stamps at Craft2000 and let the kids stamp the paper.
Wait - they give this out!???!!
Amazing!
