My First Giveaway!!

I love giveaways! Who doesn't?! Well, I've decided to make this Labor Day weekend my first giveaway for all of my beloved readers. I so appreciate your comments, encouragement, and tips, so as a way to give back to you, I'm giving away a $10 Walgreens Gift Card.

As I accumulate a pretty big stockpile of shampoos, conditioners, toiletry items, cereal, crackers, etc. I am finding myself needing a way to keep it all organized.

So, in order to qualify for this giveaway, all you have to do is leave me a suggestion in the comments on how you keep your stockpile from overflowing. Maybe you suffer like I do, and haven't tackled this chore, but how would you if you did?

To qualify for an additional entry, please mention my giveaway on your blog and let me know that you did so. Make sure that I have a way to contact you via email or your blogsite.

All entries must be submitted by 9 pm on Labor Day. The winner will be chosen by random number.

I have shelves behind my basement stairs, I store some of my stockpile there, but it tends to get dusty, so I also have a rubbermaid container and I keep things organized in there.

There is a door going from my kitchen to my garage, and I have some shelving right beside the door, in the garage. I put my "doubles", or any overflow on those shelves. It's only a few steps to retrieve it when I need it.
I also have a chest deep freezer in my garage which I keep the frozen items in, and I also keep bread and cereal (yes cereal!) in the deep freeze. The cereal stays fresher in the freezer. Lunch meats go out there too.
I keep my pantry orgainized. SUch as, this area if for baking ingredients, this area for cereal, here are the canned goods, here are the crackers, etc....
For my shampoos etc...bathroom items...I have a shelf in my linen closet where I keep those.
I try to keep the items in the rooms where I will need them. So, a space in each room for storage is the best way to keep a handle on overflow, in my opinion.

P.S. I love organizing, so I would come over and help you if you'd like. Just let me know. :)

I have certain places for excess quantities of things - my "stores" if you will. DH knows to check the "store" before putting an item on the list. For instance, mousse, shampoo, lotion, shaving cream, etc, is under DD's sink. Toothpaste, toothbrushes, razors, deodorant, etc. are under DS's sink. Juice, sodas, paper goods, cleaning supplies, etc are on a certain shelf in the garage. Canned and jarred food items are on the top shelf of the pantry.

It certainly is important to stay organized. It is so frustrating to go out and pay full price for something (like ketchup, my latest blunder) only to later realize you had two spares in the back of the pantry from the last BOGO sale!

I am new to the Walgreens/CVS thing and I'm noticing it's getting cramped in here! We have a nice set of shelves in the garage just a step outside the door to the kitchen. But yesterday I realized it's gotten cluttered, so my plan is to reassess the space I have, do some decluttering and find new space to store things.

I have put this on my blog www.praiseworthythings.blogspot.com.

I donate most of my shampoos, razors and extra cleaning stuff to our local women's shelter. It's not really stockpiling per se, but it's what I do.

Great giveaway!

My stockpile organization is definititely a work in progress! I too have things in different places around the house.

One thing that I've done is to buy small plastic organizing baskets as filler items at CVS ($1/each) and I keep toiletry items in those. So there's a basket for bandaid/first aid supplies, one for makeup/beauty, etc.

Another thing to do is to keep an eye on expiration dates. When I put away groceries, the new items go in the back, so that the 'older' (not old!) items get pulled from the front and used before the expiration dates pass.

I have two shelf units in my utility room that I store dish liquid, laundry soap, soap, cleaning supplies paper plates etc on and I keep all shampoo, conditioner, soap, body wash, toilet paper in the bathroom on shelves.

I love having extra and not having to pay full price. I probably have enough shampoo, and conditioner to last a year.

I use shelves, cabinets, bookcases, under sink. Whatever is available in the room. My bathroom is almost full and I will have to figure something else out soon!
I have a rather large laundry room and I store all my toilet paper, kleenex, etc in there too.
