We've all heard the freecreditreport.com commercials on TV with their catchy little tunes. It's true, I've been caught singing them around the house... So, one day I went to the website to see if it's really free? No, not really. It's only a free trial period and you still have to put in your credit card information to sign up for it. There are some benefits to their service, but I'd rather just get my credit report for free...
So after more searching on the web, I came across this information:
The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires that U.S. consumers be entitled to a free credit report each year. The official site to get yours is www.annualcreditreport.com. You can also call them at 877-322-8228 and request your free credit report.
You will only receive your credit report, not your score. If you'd like to get your score, you can pay $7.95 and enter your credit card information at that point.
